Luvvly-jubbly start! (“Lovely” start)

Today, as it is the first day of this blog we will begin with an easy and interesting topic: Idioms.

What is an idiom? It is an expression or a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words. For instance, when somebody says “it’s raining cats and dogs” it means that it is raining a lot. Another example to explain this could be “love me, love my dog”, which is referring to love someone, implying that the person should love everyone and everything associated with the loved one.

As you can see, each idiom will depend on the language and the culture of each and every person who uses it, and sometimes for foreigners it becomes pretty difficult to understand their usage, because of the lack of knowledge and the complexity of the concepts behind an idiom.

Here you can find more amusing idioms:

That is all for today. I really hope you enjoy it, as much as I do. Please keep on passing by,
